Crispy Honey Garlic Chicken

Ingredients (Serves 4)

For the Chicken

  • 1 lb (450 g) boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 eggs, beaten

  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar or apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 2 teaspoons water (optional, for thicker sauce)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Chicken

  1. In a bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, salt, and pepper.
  2. Dip each chicken piece into beaten eggs, then coat with the flour mixture.

2. Fry the Chicken

  1. Heat oil in a deep skillet or pan over medium-high heat (about 350°F / 175°C).
  2. Fry chicken in batches until golden brown and cooked through (4–6 minutes).
  3. Remove and drain on a paper towel-lined plate.

3. Make the Honey Garlic Sauce

  1. In a small saucepan, combine honey, garlic, soy sauce, and vinegar.
  2. Cook over medium heat for 2–3 minutes, stirring constantly.
  3. Optional: Add cornstarch slurry to thicken and simmer 1–2 more minutes.

4. Combine Chicken and Sauce

  1. Toss fried chicken in the honey garlic sauce until evenly coated.
  2. Serve immediately with steamed rice or vegetables.

Tips

  • For extra crispiness, double-dip the chicken (egg → flour → egg → flour).
  • You can bake instead of fry: Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 20–25 minutes, flipping halfway, then toss with sauce.
  • Garnish with sesame seeds or chopped green onions for added flavor and presentation.
