  • 8 tostada shells (store-bought or homemade)

  • 1 cup refried beans (canned or homemade)

  • 1 cup shredded lettuce

  • 1 cup diced tomatoes

  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Mexican blend, or queso fresco)

  • ½ cup sour cream or Greek yogurt

  • ¼ cup sliced black olives (optional)

  • Salsa or hot sauce to taste

  • Fresh cilantro for garnish


Instructions

1. Cook the beef

  1. Heat a skillet over medium heat.

  2. Add onion and garlic, sauté 2–3 minutes until fragrant.

  3. Add ground beef, breaking it up with a spatula.

  4. Sprinkle in chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper.

  5. Cook until beef is browned and fully cooked, 6–8 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.

2. Warm the refried beans

  • Heat in a small saucepan or microwave until smooth and warm.

3. Assemble the tostadas

  1. Spread 2–3 tbsp refried beans on each tostada shell.

  2. Top with ground beef.

  3. Add lettuce, tomatoes, shredded cheese, and optional toppings like olives or salsa.

  4. Finish with a dollop of sour cream and a sprinkle of cilantro.

  • Crunchier tostadas: Lightly bake shells for 5 minutes at 350°F (175°C).
