Creamed Chipped Beef on Toast

A classic comfort food, creamed chipped beef on toast is a hearty and creamy dish that’s perfect for breakfast, brunch, or a quick dinner. With salty chipped beef smothered in a rich, creamy sauce, it’s sure to warm you up!

Ingredients:

  • 4 oz dried chipped beef (about 1 jar or 1 package)

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour

  • 2 cups milk (whole milk works best)

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • Dash of garlic powder (optional)

  • A pinch of paprika (optional, for garnish)

  • 4 slices of toast (white, whole wheat, or your preferred type)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Toast:

    • Toast your slices of bread until golden and crispy. Set them aside.

  2. Prepare the Chipped Beef:

    • Rinse the chipped beef under cold water to remove some of the salt (optional). Pat it dry with a paper towel and chop it into bite-sized pieces.

  3. Make the Cream Sauce:

    • In a medium skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.

    • Add the flour and stir for 1-2 minutes to form a roux, which will thicken your sauce.

  4. Add the Milk:

    • Gradually add the milk, whisking constantly to avoid lumps. Continue stirring until the sauce thickens (about 4-5 minutes).

  5. Season:

    • Season with salt, pepper, and any optional spices you like, such as garlic powder or paprika.

  6. Add the Chipped Beef:

    • Stir in the chopped chipped beef and let it simmer for 3-5 minutes until the beef is heated through and the sauce is thick and creamy. If the sauce is too thick, add a bit more milk.

  7. Serve:

    • Spoon the creamed chipped beef over the toasted bread. Garnish with a sprinkle of pepper or paprika if desired.

Enjoy your warm and comforting creamed chipped beef on toast!
