Crockpot Beef & Broccoli

Posted on December 5, 2025 by Admin

Here’s a simple and flavorful Crockpot Beef & Broccoli recipe — perfect for a hands-off dinner with tender beef and garlicky broccoli in a savory sauce.

Ingredients (Serves 4–6)

For the Beef:

  • 1.5 lbs (700g) flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce

  • 1/4 cup beef broth or water

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce (optional, but adds depth)

  • 2 tbsp cornstarch

  • 3 garlic cloves, minced

  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, minced (optional)

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

For the Broccoli:

  • 4 cups broccoli florets

  • 1/4 cup water or beef broth (for steaming)

For Serving:

  • Cooked rice or noodles

  • Sesame seeds (optional)

  • Green onions, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Beef Sauce:

    • In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, beef broth, brown sugar, oyster sauce, garlic, ginger, cornstarch, and black pepper.

  2. Add Beef to Crockpot:

    • Place sliced beef in the crockpot. Pour the sauce over the beef and stir to coat evenly.

  3. Cook Beef:

    • Cover and cook on low for 4–5 hours or high for 2–3 hours, until beef is tender.

  4. Add Broccoli:

    • About 30 minutes before serving, add the broccoli florets along with 1/4 cup water or broth.

    • Stir and cover. Let the broccoli steam until tender but still bright green.

  5. Thicken the Sauce (if needed):

    • If the sauce is too thin, remove the lid and cook on high for 10–15 minutes, or mix 1 tsp cornstarch with 1 tbsp cold water and stir into the crockpot to thicken.

  6. Serve:

    • Serve hot over cooked rice or noodles.

    • Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions, if desired.

Tips for Best Results:

  • Slice beef thinly to ensure it cooks quickly and remains tender.

  • Broccoli timing: Don’t add it too early; it will get mushy if cooked for hours.

  • Make it extra flavorful: Marinate beef in half the sauce for 30 minutes before cooking.

  • Add crunch: Sprinkle lightly toasted sesame seeds just before serving.

If you like, I can also give a “5-ingredient quick version” that uses frozen broccoli and minimal prep — ready in the crockpot in under 3 hours.
