DIY Vaseline Cream That Leaves Your Skin Soft, Smooth & Radiant

Posted on November 30, 2025 by Admin

Making your own DIY Vaseline cream is a great way to create a moisturizing and soothing cream that leaves your skin feeling soft, smooth, and radiant—without all the chemicals and additives found in store-bought products. This natural, homemade cream is especially great for dry or rough patches of skin and can be customized to suit your scent or preferences.

Here’s a simple recipe to create your own Vaseline-style moisturizing cream at home:

DIY Vaseline Cream Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup (60g) coconut oil (a deeply hydrating oil that’s great for skin)

  • 1/4 cup (60g) shea butter (moisturizing and soothing)

  • 1/4 cup (60g) beeswax pellets (acts as a natural emulsifier, gives the cream its texture)

  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) sweet almond oil (optional, for added moisture and smoothness)

  • 10-15 drops of essential oil (optional, for fragrance—lavender, chamomile, or rose are all great choices)

  • 1 teaspoon vitamin E oil (optional, for added skin benefits and preservation)

Instructions:

  1. Melt the Base Ingredients:

    • In a double boiler (or a heatproof bowl over a pot of simmering water), combine the coconut oil, shea butter, and beeswax pellets. Stir occasionally until everything is completely melted and smooth.

  2. Add the Oils:

    • Once the base ingredients are melted, remove the bowl from the heat. Add the sweet almond oil, vitamin E oil, and any essential oils you’d like to use. Stir well to combine all the oils.

  3. Let the Mixture Cool:

    • Allow the mixture to cool for about 10-15 minutes. You can speed up the process by placing it in the fridge, but keep an eye on it so it doesn’t harden too quickly.

  4. Whisk for Texture (Optional):

    • Once the mixture begins to solidify but is still slightly warm, you can use a hand mixer or a whisk to beat the mixture for about 2-3 minutes. This will help give it a creamy, whipped texture, which makes the application smoother and more luxurious.

  5. Transfer to a Jar:

    • Once your cream is at the desired consistency, transfer it into a glass jar or airtight container. A small mason jar or any cosmetic jar works well for this purpose.

  6. Let It Set:

    • Allow the cream to set at room temperature for a few hours (or refrigerate it for faster setting) until it solidifies completely.

How to Use:

  • Body Moisturizer: Apply a small amount of your homemade Vaseline cream to dry or rough patches of skin (elbows, knees, feet, etc.). The cream will leave your skin feeling soft, hydrated, and smooth.

  • Lip Balm: This cream can also work as a nourishing lip balm to keep your lips soft and protected.

  • Hand Cream: It makes an excellent hand cream, especially in winter when your hands are prone to dryness.

Benefits of This DIY Vaseline Cream:

  • Coconut Oil: Known for its deep moisturizing properties, coconut oil also has antibacterial and antifungal benefits, making it great for skin protection.

  • Shea Butter: Shea butter is rich in vitamins A and E, which help to hydrate, nourish, and improve skin elasticity.

  • Beeswax: Acts as a natural emulsifier, helping the oils and butter to bind together and create a thick, protective layer on the skin.

  • Sweet Almond Oil: Rich in vitamin E and fatty acids, it helps to soothe and moisturize the skin, making it soft and radiant.

  • Vitamin E Oil: Known for its antioxidant properties, vitamin E is great for skin repair and helps protect against environmental damage.

Customization Tips:

  • Scent: Choose an essential oil based on your preference. Lavender is calming, peppermint is invigorating, and rose is luxurious. Feel free to mix and match for a unique scent blend.

  • Add a Boost: If you want an extra hydrating boost, you can add honey (a natural humectant) or glycerin to your cream. Just be sure to adjust the proportions of the oils to keep the right consistency.

Storage and Shelf Life:

  • Store the cream in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Because this recipe doesn’t contain preservatives, it’s best used within 3-6 months.

  • If the cream becomes too solid in colder weather, simply warm it up in your hands for easier application.

This DIY Vaseline cream is perfect for people looking for natural skincare that hydrates, protects, and softens the skin, leaving it feeling smooth and radiant. Plus, it’s a much more affordable and customizable option compared to store-bought creams!
