Here’s a simple, classic mashed potatoes recipe 🥔

Ingredients

  • 1 kg (about 2 lb) potatoes (Yukon Gold or Russet are best)

  • 4–6 tbsp butter

  • ½–¾ cup warm milk (or cream)

  • Salt, to taste

  • Optional: pepper, garlic, chives, sour cream

Instructions

  1. Peel and cut potatoes into even chunks

  2. Boil in salted water for 15–20 minutes, until very tender

  3. Drain well (let steam off for 1–2 minutes)

  4. Mash while hot

  5. Add butter, then slowly mix in warm milk

  6. Season with salt (and pepper if you like)

  7. Mash until smooth and fluffy

Tips for the best mash

  • Don’t overmix (can turn gluey)

  • Warm milk = creamier texture

  • For extra richness: add a spoon of cream cheese or sour cream

  • For garlic mashed potatoes: boil with 2–3 garlic cloves

If you want, I can give:

  • Extra creamy version

  • No-butter / dairy-free version

  • Baby-friendly or kid-approved version 😄
