Here’s a rich, moist, and easy chocolate cake recipe that never fails. 🍫🎂

🌟 Ultimate Moist Chocolate Cake

Ingredients

Dry ingredients

  • 1¾ cups (220 g) all-purpose flour

  • ¾ cup (75 g) unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 2 cups (400 g) sugar

  • 1½ tsp baking powder

  • 1½ tsp baking soda

  • 1 tsp salt

Wet ingredients

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 cup (240 ml) whole milk

  • ½ cup (120 ml) vegetable oil

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Magic ingredient

  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water (makes the cake extra moist)

Instructions

1. Prep

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C).

  • Grease and flour two 9-inch (23 cm) round cake pans (or one 9×13 pan).

2. Mix your dry ingredients

  • Whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

3. Add your wet ingredients

  • Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla.

  • Beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes.

4. Add boiling water

  • Stir in the boiling water last.

    • The batter will look thin — this is correct and makes the cake super moist.

5. Bake

  • Pour batter into pans.

  • Bake for 30–35 minutes (round pans) or 35–40 minutes (9×13).

  • Cake is done when a toothpick comes out clean.

6. Cool

  • Let cakes cool for 10 minutes in the pan, then transfer to a rack.

Optional: Chocolate Frosting

  • 1 cup (230 g) butter, softened

  • 3½ cups (440 g) powdered sugar

  • ½ cup (50 g) cocoa powder

  • ½ tsp salt

  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

  • ¼ cup (60 ml) heavy cream

Beat all ingredients until smooth and fluffy.
